Bojan Maricic, the Deputy Prime Minister responsible for European Affairs, met with Lord Stewart Pich, the United Kingdom’s Special Representative for the Western Balkans, to discuss the dynamics of the Euro-integrative process, political developments in North Macedonia, and the situation in the region.
The meeting’s participants noted that North Macedonia’s negotiation process with the EU’s continuity is crucial for the entire region’s stability.
“North Macedonia has the potential to make rapid progress in the EU negotiation process. At this moment, the constitutional changes will depend not only on the country’s European future and its positioning in relations with the EU but also on the peace and security of the entire region,” according to the message conveyed at the meeting by Maricic.
Accompanied by Ambassador Matthew Lawson, Lord Stewart Pich confirmed the unconditional support that North Macedonia has from the United Kingdom on its European path and in implementing reforms.
In the context of regional stability and progress in the Western Balkans towards the EU, the participants also discussed the highest-level meeting between representatives of Belgrade and Pristina in Ohrid, welcoming the dialogue, which they consider of great geostrategic importance requiring constructive engagement from both sides.
Maricic, North Macedonia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Chief Negotiator with the EU, pointed out at the meeting that North Macedonia is a responsible and serious state with democratic capacity for membership in the EU, which will remain committed to regional initiatives and preserving peace, stability, and prosperity in the region, as Maricic emphasized: “This is in our interest and in Europe’s interest.”
The meeting, attended by Drita Abdiu-Halili, the State Secretary for European Affairs, confirmed the complete readiness to advance cooperation and continuous communication to overcome challenges.
