During her official visit to Tirana, the Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen stated that Albania is a highly valued partner for Denmark and a trusted NATO ally. “In a time when the European Union is more important than ever, I hope we can build an even stronger partnership, and I’m very confident we will.” she said, as reported by ATA. During a joint press conference with her host, Edi Rama, she also added that her country will support Albania on its path to integration into the EU and praised Rama’s dedication to the integration of the Western Balkans into the European Union. “I think you are one of the strongest voices in Europe when it comes to the importance of full integration between the Western Balkans and the rest of Europe, and that is becoming more important. Ten days ago, we marked the first anniversary of the war in Ukraine, and you reacted very strongly on this issue. You were a strong supporter of Ukraine, which is a strong thing. We all need to be aware of the very fragile situation in many Western Balkan countries. I think your commitment to European values is important, and that is also a very strong part of opening negotiations for Albania’s EU membership. I know it’s a long road, but we will support you.” Frederiksen said. Rama said that “the goal is not quick membership but fulfilling the conditions for a dignified entry.” The two also discussed various topics related to the advancement of bilateral cooperation, especially in the areas of investment and tourism.
