The German Ministry of Finance has announced that around 5.25 billion euros worth of assets belonging to sanctioned oligarchs have been frozen since the beginning of the Russian attack on Ukraine. This figure was 4.28 billion euros six months ago. The announcement was made in response to a request from German representative Christian Gerke. According to German sanctions law, those subject to EU sanctions must immediately declare their assets, or else face a fine or one year in prison. So far, eight oligarchs have declared assets worth 577 million euros at the Bundesbank, according to government data.
