The government of North Macedonia announced that it will reduce the price of pasta by 10% by the end of the week. Minister of Economy, Kreshnik Bekteshi, stated that traders should take the initiative to further lower the prices. Pasta currently sold for 51 Macedonian denars will be sold for 44 denars, while pasta that previously cost 60 denars will be sold for 52 denars. The government hopes that traders will lower the prices even further beyond the set limit. The government also negotiated with the three major producers of cooking oil in the country to lower prices. The producers agreed to provide prices lower than 100 denars per liter of cooking oil. The government is currently analyzing milk prices to potentially freeze prices in that sector as well. Bekteshi urges milk producers to lower prices before the government makes a decision.
