Tomorrow (Tuesday, March 7th), a conversation with Julijana Velichkovska, the author of the novel “Seasons” – the book for the month of March at the City Library “Braca Miladinovci” in Skopje, will take place in the memorial room “T’ga za Jug” at 7 pm. This event is part of the “Reading contemporary Macedonian authors” campaign.

“Seasons” is a short but intense journey through time, consisting of seventy stories about everyday life, seemingly simple and banal things. The storytelling is simple, comprehensible, and in some places the prose transitions into poetry, even into music. The language is everyday and straightforward, making “Seasons” understandable for all generations.

This is Velichkovska’s first novel, published in 2014, and it has seen four editions so far. In 2017, it was also published in Bulgarian, translated by Poli Mukanova, by the publisher “Ergo” from Sofia.

Julijana Velichkovska is a writer, editor, organizer of poetry festivals, and a translator. She graduated from the Faculty of Philology “Blaze Koneski” at the University of “St. Cyril and Methodius” in Skopje. She is the founder of the publishing house “PNV Publications” from Skopje, co-founder and director of the “Skopje Poetry Festival,” and program director of the “Poetry Night in Veles” in Ohrid. She is a member of the Society of Writers of Macedonia.

Her songs have been translated and published in twenty world languages. She is represented in several anthologies of Macedonian contemporary poetry published in Macedonia and abroad, as well as in three anthologies of short stories published in Macedonia.

As part of the “Reading contemporary Macedonian authors” campaign, the novel “Seasons” will also be the subject of the Readers’ Club planned for March 25th.

The conversation with Velichkovska will be led by literary critic Alexandra Jurukovska, and excerpts from the work will be read by actress Iva Milchova.
