The head of the railway station in Larissa, Greece, allegedly diverted a suburban train onto the wrong track just hours before the recent train collision that killed 57 people, according to Greek TV channel “Sky”. Fortunately, the train driver noticed the mistake and alerted the station chief, who did not respond. The station chief is facing serious charges of traffic violations, multiple counts of manslaughter, and causing bodily harm. If convicted, he could face imprisonment for 10 years to life. The charges are based on the accusation that the station chief not only made a serious mistake in directing the train to the wrong track but also failed to correct that mistake when he saw the train heading in the wrong direction.
