British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has announced that a new law regulating illegal immigration via small boats crossing the English Channel is expected to be passed next week. Under pressure from lawmakers to find a solution for the thousands of migrants arriving in the UK illegally, Sunak has made this issue one of the government’s five key priorities. He stated that those who come to the UK illegally will not be allowed to stay. Last year alone, over 45,000 people entered the UK via the dangerous English Channel route.
