politics, Alexsandar Mitovski, editor of Infomaks, recently revealed details of a massive fraud involving the state-owned oil company OKTA. OKTA is one of the financiers of the Greek secret services through offshore companies. Macedonia spends around 200,000 tons of fuel annually, and is obligated to purchase 500,000 tons per year. For each ton not purchased, the government pays a penalty. During the VMRO-DPMNE government, the penalty was 3 euros per ton, and during the SDSM government, the penalty was increased to 9 euros per ton.
The difference between 250-300,000 tons of fuel is 18 million euros of fuel that is not used. Several names have been mentioned in connection with this fraud, including the advisor to the vice-premier Koco Angusev, the lawyer of the Angusev companies, and the consultant to the French law firm representing Macedonia in the arbitration. The government pays 6 million euros to the French law firm, and the firm pays 3 million euros back.
Additionally, the transformation from oil to product, when it is a product, is reduced by 400-500%, and OKTA and Makpetrol have a monopoly on the reduced price. There are dozens of offshore companies owned by Latsis, and no prime minister or minister has not been “in cahoots” with Latsis.
In 2014-2015, the VMRO-DPMNE government tried to take back OKTA and break the contract, with a prepared law and purchase with which the government said that the fuel not used would be bought and immediately delivered for the next 5 years. This put OKTA in an unfortunate situation, as they could not deliver and the contract was violated. The VMRO-DPMNE government then started a procedure for a law on the purchase of the fuel in the name of Macedonia to buy another company, and then the VMRO-DPMNE government fell.
The fraud is huge, with OKTA not working for 10 years, us importing ready-made products for Helenic, and no consideration of environmental effects. There is no competition, fuel prices are reduced, and Mitovski explains it all.
