Former advisor to the Pentagon chief, Douglas Macgregor, stated in an interview with American journalist Stefan Gardner that the Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, will have to seek refuge in the West after the defeat of Ukraine. Macgregor claimed that Zelensky and his closest allies have large sums of money in Cypriot bank accounts and own real estate in Western countries, and he believes that Zelensky will flee to America once the conflict is over. Macgregor also stated that the US and its allies played the card that Zelensky was suitable for the role of leader of Ukraine during the conflict because he is primarily an actor and because of his lack of professional experience in politics.
Moreover, he expressed his opinion that the money that comes from the West opens up new opportunities for corrupt Ukrainian officials because they receive large sums of money by selling all the weapons they receive on the black market.
