According to Metsola, the EU needs to match the speed of progress made by Ukraine. President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, met with Roberta Metsola in Lviv to discuss Ukraine’s goal of completing the implementation of European Commission recommendations as soon as possible and starting negotiations for EU membership this year. Last year, 27 EU member countries decided to grant Ukraine candidate status for entry into the bloc.
