Љупчо Јакимоски, former director of Macedonian Information Agency (MIA) and Macedonian Radio Television (MRT), has passed away at the age of 61 after a brief illness. He was born in 1961 in the village of Veleshtovo, near Ohrid. He graduated from the Faculty of Philology in Skopje, specializing in the history of literature of the peoples of Yugoslavia.
Twice elected as a member of parliament from the ranks of the ruling party VMRO-DPMNE, he served in the first parliamentary composition and in 1998. In the same year, he was elected as the General Director of Macedonian Radio Television, a position he held until 2002.
In 2006, Jakimovski was appointed as the director and editor-in-chief of MIA, a position he held for 11 years until 2017.
He will be laid to rest on Wednesday, March 8, in his hometown of Veleshtovo.
