The Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, has compared the Western approach to solving the problem of Serbs in Kosovo to the Minsk Agreement for Ukraine, according to the Russian state news agency, RIA Novosti. Lavrov made the remarks at a meeting of the heads of the G20 member countries in New Delhi, where he stated that the deception of the Serbs in relation to the Serbian municipalities in Kosovo is similar to the deception of Russia regarding the Minsk Agreements. According to Lavrov, Western countries have no intention of implementing the agreements related to Serbs in Kosovo, just as they were not prepared to fulfill the demands of the Minsk Agreement. He added that the signatories to the Minsk Agreement candidly admitted that these agreements are necessary to prepare for war against Russia.
In February 2015, a revised version of the Minsk Agreement was signed in the capital of Belarus, with the aim of establishing peace in the regions of Ukraine that had been occupied by pro-Russian separatists for a year. However, the Minsk Agreement was never fully implemented, and its key issues remain unresolved. The rare meeting of the leaders of Russia, Ukraine, Germany, and France aimed to restore peace to these regions of Ukraine.
