The President of the Spanish La Liga, Javier Tebas, has once again threatened Barcelona, telling the Catalan club that they will not be able to make any transfers this summer because they have failed to impose order on the club’s financial situation. Tebas says that Barcelona has not complied with the financial regulations of La Liga, and despite economic measures to increase revenue during the past summer, when they sold a portion of their future TV rights, they have not met the necessary criteria. “We did not allow Barcelona to bring in players during the winter transfer window, and this summer they will not be able to bring in any players. The club brought in 5% of its revenues last summer with these measures. We are a self-regulating league, and no one can make such a move as Barcelona did. If we do not respect our financial rules with such an important club, the competition will not be regular,” says Tebas. Barcelona spent around 150 million euros last summer, and also signed two players as free agents without paying transfer fees, putting their finances in jeopardy.
